Featured Work

From costumes for film to designer clothing and the recreation of historic textiles, Iron Cauldron Colour Works has a diverse repertoire – take a look at some of our past projects below.

Custom Dye Work

Working with clients to create a palette of custom colours for their needs using natural dyes is our specialty. Dyeing in the yarn allows for cloth to be designed from the ground up, and requires less water than dyeing yardage for even colour. Piece dyeing can create larger graphic patterns and allows for resist dye techniques which are otherwise impossible.

Pigments

Using the traditional lake pigment process, we are able to transform the vibrant colours of our natural dyes into organic insoluble pigments that can be used with a variety of binders to create paints, crayons, and pastels; or to make coloured materials such as paper, plaster, and cement.

Marbling

By floating paints on a liquid surface, we create unique patterns that can be applied to various surfaces. Many porous surfaces can be marbled. Paper and cloth are the most traditional materials, but we also specialize in marbling on leathers and wooden surfaces.
